Make Them Suffer

Forming in 2008, Make Them Suffer roared to life armed with ferocious deathcore leanings before stamping their name on the heavy scene with lashings of melodic flair via their 2012 debut full length Neverbloom. From here, a fearless pursuit of creative exploration would see the group morph from local Perth favourites into stalwart fixtures on the world stage, expanding their reach into melodic death metal, heavy metalcore, symphonic elements and beyond. With five studio albums in their wake, including 2020’s How to Survive A Funeral which debuted at #17 on the Australian Charts, as well as their most recent opus, 2024’s spectacular self-titled new era, Make Them Suffer have amassed millions of streams, performed sold out headline runs, and toured alongside a horde of industry heavyweights, including recent stints with Bring Me The Horizon, Sleep Token, Parkway Drive and Bad Omens. And arm-in-arm with their successes as well as any setbacks transpiring throughout their journey, one constant has permeated the Make Them Suffer narrative: a penchant for defying expectations and seeking perpetual creative motion without altering their core beliefs.

In Hearts Wake

Standing at the precipice of a new era, the Australian metalcore titans explore bold new sonic dynamics, embracing more shades of darkness and heaviness than before on their powerful sixth studio record, INCARNATION.

But this isn’t an album that is heavy purely for heavy’s sake. INCARNATION is an ambitious freefall into a new soundscape for In Hearts Wake, as they navigate their way through the shadow world, finding the light within and emerging bolstered; more empowered than before.

An overarching sense of maturity and clarity threads itself throughout INCARNATION.

The In Hearts Wake who created this album is a markedly different group to the one who created 2012’s seminal debut, DIVINATION. The album, based upon a Tarot concept – each song emulating the meaning and ideals of a particular Major Arcana Tarot card – was a defining record for In Hearts Wake: meticulously textured, fusing brutality with beauty in terms of arrangement and execution.
